Fraud AlertATM Skimmers Hit California Credit Unions
Thieves are believed to have skimmed ATM information from as many as 90 people, including members of Alaska USA FCU and Arrowhead CU, as well as Desert Community Bank. AltaOne ATMs were not afftected by this scam. In addition, there are no AltaOne cards reported to be compromised.
Fraudulent skimming devices are placed on ATMs by persons trying to steal your account information by creating clone cards. The perpetrators may even be watching you from nearby as you enter your personal identification number (PIN). Please take extra precautions when entering your PIN and conceal the numbers you press. If you are unsure if an ATM is legitimate, don’t use it and report it to your financial institution.
If you suspect you may have been victimized, please contact your local police department, or call AltaOne Federal Credit Union at (760) 371-7000, or toll-free (800) 433-9727, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
